Value Proposition
For Borrowers

FLAG provides loans to individuals and businesses located in Philadelphia, without any charges for interest or fees.  The intention for these loans is persistent improvement in the resiliency and sustainability of the economy and environment within our extended community.

FLAG loans are available without discrimination based on age, gender, sexual orientation, religious belief, country of origin, ethnicity, race, prior criminal record, or previous credit history.  Anybody may apply for a FLAG loan, and everyone is encouraged to do so.

The proceeds from FLAG loans may be used to finance for-profit, nonprofit, or cooperative ventures along with preparations for such activities, provided only that the loans will be repaid, thereby allowing those funds to then become available to assist other borrowers.

Borrowers of FLAG loans are not required to demonstrate asset balances, sources of income, or prior business histories.  Collateral is not required to secure FLAG loans.  However, all FLAG loans must be guaranteed by individuals, businesses, houses of worship, and/or other institutions acceptable to FLAG.

The availability of FLAG funding can help make other sources of financing available including bank loans and matching grants.  FLAG will work with other organizations on behalf of its borrowers to arrange for total financing packages in sufficient amounts, on favorable terms.  FLAG loans will not be subordinated to other debt, however.  Nevertheless, FLAG will allow moratoria, deferrals of payment, and/or modification of loan terms if, in the judgment of FLAG, circumstances of the borrower and conditions for FLAG make such adjustments advisable.

FLAG will customize loans in correspondence with the needs of a borrower.  When appropriate, FLAG will seek a Sponsor to facilitate a loan.  FLAG will also provide specific loan programs that anticipate and/or respond to the needs and interests of individuals and businesses within the community.
